Frequently Asked Questions
1) The MCS production tubing of your pilot well (seven 7mm-diameter passageways) looks to be very restrictive (small cross section available for flow) compared to 2-inch ID tubing. How big a flowrate can it accomodate?
Yes, compared to the cross section available for flow of 2-inch ID tubing, seven 7mm-diameter tubes is relatively small, about 8% as big. But this produced 21 Mcf per day in the pilot well for an extended period of time, and in other wells, transient rates of up to 40 Mcfd were recorded. Maybe the better question is why production tubing as big as 2-inches in diameter was installed in the first place... the maximum flowrate of the well was 120 Mcfd when it was new.
